Second shift engineering support of Sonobuoy production ensuring product design integrity, product performance, and high quality builds.

Job Description

The mechanical engineering technician will be primarily supporting the 2nd shift sonobuoy production efforts which can include a broad range of tasking such as: troubleshooting support, tooling design/modification, operator training, failure analysis, and preventative maintenance. The role will work closely with design engineering and production operations to ensure product build integrity. Additional responsibilities could include support on development programs through prototype fabrication, assemble/disassemble hardware, and performance testing.

Required Skills :

  • Must hold or have ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Applicant must have a demonstrated aptitude in the fabrication & assembly of mechanical devices as well as the ability to use a variety of tools.
  • This position requires a two-year degree in an Engineering Technology discipline, or 4+ years of relevant work experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting production of electro-mechanical devices and/or working in a laboratory environment is desired.
  • Experience with model shop equipment (drill press, brake, bandsaw, grinder, sander, etc)
  • Experience with measurement equipment (micrometer, caliper, CMM, EM load frame, etc.)
  • Experience with standard hand tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Soldering experience
  • Experience with adhesives and potting materials
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings / prints and electrical schematics

Physical Requirements :

  • Normal color vision, manual dexterity
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds, infrequently, floor to waist height
