Job Requirements / Description

Fulton River Partners is working with a client in the electric propulsion space. We're excited to be launching a search for a Head of Business Development - a hunter who is responsible for organizing and supporting all aspects of the corporate business development and the go-to-market strategy.

This includes, but is not limited to leading sales and client-relationship management (relationship building with mainly new accounts, with some involvement of current business), tracking new markets, and emerging trends, recommending new products and services, proposing, and developing new strategic partnerships.

Our client's goal is to be the leader in electric propulsion across all industries. This is one of the few hard-tech startups that we are personally super excited about going into 2024/25.

About You:
  • Minimum of 8 years of Business Development experience focusing on propulsion or related product.
  • Extensive experience selling to a multitude of industries including Aerospace, EV, Marine, Oil/Gas, Industrials, Manufacturing, etc.
  • Proven track record of opening doors, creating long-term strategic partnerships, and an industry-leading ability to forge relationships.
  • Business Development within hard-tech or hardware products is a must.
  • Technical Aptitude and Intellectual Curiosity.
About the Role:
  • Generate and capture business opportunities. This BD team leader is ultimately responsible for growing revenue. This is achieved by developing a deep understanding of the existing and prospective client base, knowing the current or planned programmatic and technical roadmaps, and being cognizant of the competitive landscape.
  • This expertise will inform capture strategies, revenue forecasts, and aid in technology development plans.
  • Tactically, you will manage continuous engagements with current and future clients, generate growth strategies, and monitor buying cycles for opportunities.
  • Grow existing business. You will partner with the broader leadership team, which executes existing contracts, to grow business with current clients. This does not simply include expanding upon current work, but also leveraging existing partnerships to explore new areas of work or opportunities by sustaining and building upon the strong foundation of those client relationships.
  • Communicate our value to clients. The VP of BD's job is to communicate to a broad audience: clients, partners, competitors, and the interested public. You must project the company’s ethos, conveying insights that illustrate our approach to building next-generation defense technology and the competitive edges in doing so.
  • Inform product development. As you will often be the first employee to engage a client, you are charged with translating their problem set back into our engineering organization. The team must trust your value judgment and assessment of the required mission outcome as you interpret and convey various client needs.
  • Internally, you will provide the necessary clarity to inform priorities, keep stakeholders informed, determine key milestones, and proactively provide clear communications to appropriate levels of the company.
  • Your assessment of clients’ needs will inform new product decisions, and your ongoing engagement with clients will yield crucial input that helps ensure the product suite is best-in-class.

$200,000 - $250,000 a year

Plus sizable equity. This is a profitable startup - opportunity is massive here.
