The Opportunity
An integral role to the GEAR UP NH program, the College and Career Navigator will follow a cohort of students from the 6th or 7th grade through their senior year of high school and promote the wealth of resources and opportunities offered through this federally funded college and career guidance program. The College and Career Navigator empowers students and their caregivers to plan beyond secondary education by expanding access to career exploration, job training, and college planning resources. We are currently seeking a candidate for the Claremont location.

We are currently seeking a candidate for the Claremont location.
Key Responsibilities
- Incorporate college access components within the assigned school(s) by assisting with classroom instruction and embedding college planning materials with core content.
- Provide direct services and needed and to a cohort of students, monitor individual student data to ensure that interventions occur as needed, and conduct small group academic sessions in classroom settings.
- Assist students in becoming independent learners while developing social, emotional, and noncognitive skills, while also using time management and organizational skills.
- Assist with the creation and sharing of GEAR UP calendar and timeline with appropriate staff.
- Organize and conduct college and career access lessons and activities for both inside and outside of school hours. These include sponsoring school clubs, conducting college tours, field trips, arranging job shadowing and mentoring opportunities, and providing leadership, college, access and awareness activities on evenings and weekends.
- Research, execute and plan a caregiver engagement strategy for cohort students and engage with caregivers to promote practical and financial understanding of higher education planning and costs.
- Meet with students and caregivers, individually and collectively, to develop a plan for post-secondary success.
- Provide ongoing support with the NH State Scholars program and staff at GEAR UP.
- Create opportunities for middle/high school and college/university partnerships.
- Attend regular staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and staff training provided through GEAR UP.
- Understanding of and belief in the mission and vision of GEAR UP.
- Ability to foster strong relationships with students and caregivers, school, and district staff, and build community partnerships.
- Commitment to working with young people and to the value of postsecondary education.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written, verbal and oral skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Knowledge of college readiness programs for at-risk, disadvantaged student populations.
- Experience with classroom or group management.
