Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Medical Affairs & Clinical Research, the Director Medical Affairs North America will manage and support academic educational partnerships between Abiomed and key customer accounts, and represent Abiomed at national and international conferences. This position is key to sharing and deepening the clinical and basic understanding of cardiac unloading and recovery in the specialist community.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Leading, motivating, and developing team members.
  2. Manage and organize evidence dissemination in regional alignment with commercial partners.
  3. Maintain extensive clinical/scientific expertise as a subject matter expert in relevant therapeutic areas.
  4. Serve as a credible scientific subject matter expert to various internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Develop peer-level relationship networks with thought leaders and key stakeholders in cardiovascular diseases.
  6. Work with Medical Office leadership to develop and execute the field team strategic plan.
  7. Represent Medical Affairs at scientific meetings.
  8. Contribute to medical material preparation and review.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree (PhD or MD) in the cardiovascular space.
  • Post graduate clinical training in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Internal or Intensive Care Medicine is an advantage.
  • 5 years (field) Medical Affairs experience in the medical device or biotechnology industries, including minimum 2 years in a team leadership role.
  • Ability to network and partner with important external customers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally approximately 60% of the time.
