Job Description:

L3Harris has an immediate opening for a Software Project Lead to support engineering development efforts on satellite ground systems based on our industry leading InControl satellite control software and OnTime planning and scheduling software products. In this position, you will be responsible for helping to develop ground system command and control and mission planning capabilities.

This individual coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance Statement of Work (SOW) and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract. Additionally, this individual participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes and acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. This individual establishes design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and testing. They will establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program problems, and obtain solutions such as allocating resources or changing contractual specifications. This individual directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas and supports work prioritization across programs in support of release planning, working closely with the software development team.

Essential Functions:

  1. Successfully lead a project team, including subcontractors, to meet customer requirements within allocated cost/scope/schedule commitments. Provide technical guidance to engineering team members, refine requirements, develop user stories, and collaborate on designs.
  2. Drive technological growth within the product line. Propose integration of new technologies into the product line. Support roadmap development.
  3. Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of the software engineering department.
  4. Manage customer relationships to support customer retention and drive growth.
  5. Manage Agile software development projects through the engineering process reviews and process gates. Develop and analyze metrics to track project progress and reduce variances. Assess engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. Identify, track, mitigate, manage, and disposition risks and opportunities.
  6. Coordinate software team support for quotes and proposals, including technical solutions, requirements compliance, labor estimates, material estimates, subcontract estimates, and schedules. Create and articulate software architectures and solutions to meet customer needs.
  7. Communicate with leadership on status, issues, milestones, and successes.
  8. Utilize strong technical skillset, able to contribute to requirements analysis, design, code and unit test, integration and test, requirements sell off, and operations and maintenance of satellite ground systems.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  2. Experience as software lead on a significant program including design, code, unit test, requirements.
  3. Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  4. Minimum 4 years in managing projects in software development.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  1. Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  2. Background in developing and maintaining satellite ground systems.
  3. 8+ years of experience in software development (knowledge of Java, C/C++, React).

In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $107,500 - $199,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
