Human Resources Department

The Human Resources (HR) team is responsible for managing the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment through retirement, collaborating closely with various departments such as New Site Development, Construction, Operations, Sales, Finance, Tech & Systems, and Legal to ensure a cohesive and supportive work environment. Our HR team is distinguished by its proactive and strategic approach. Unlike in many organizations where HR functions are limited to administrative oversight, our HR professionals are empowered with the authority and responsibility to drive critical processes directly. This includes talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and organizational planning. By leveraging in-house expertise, our HR team can align long-term organizational sustainability with innovative HR practices and cost-effective strategies. This alignment ensures that our workforce is engaged, motivated, and equipped to contribute to the company's success. Each member of our HR team plays a pivotal role in making high-impact decisions, resulting in a more dynamic and productive work environment.

Position Overview

This role can be based in Denver, CO or Ashburn, VA.

As the Director of Learning and Development for North America, you will be a strategic leader in shaping and driving our regional learning agenda for North America. Reporting to the VP, Learning and Development, Global, and collaborating closely with the Regional People and Culture Partner, you will be responsible for designing and delivering transformative learning experiences that empower our North American employees to reach new heights. With a keen eye for talent development, excellent team collaboration capability, and a passion for cultivating a culture of continuous growth, you will partner with colleagues to bring our global initiatives to life, and lead a team of L&D specialists to craft localized programs that address the unique needs of the region. From innovative internship experiences to and in-role development frameworks, your work will be instrumental in unlocking the full technical potential of our people and propelling our organization forward.

Essential Job Functions

Learning Strategy and Design:

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of learning and development programs for the North America region, ensuring alignment with global strategies and regional priorities.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for technical skills and in-role skills for the North American region, aligned with global objectives and local needs.

  • Work with business SMEs to put in place technical training frameworks at a regional level to ensure our employees have the critical capabilities required to excel within a data center environment.

Partnership and Collaboration:

  • Partner with the Senior Director, Leadership Development and Learning, Global, other Regional L&D Directors, and the Regional People and Culture Partner to identify critical learning needs, craft innovative solutions and bring globally consistent initiatives to life within the region.

  • Partner very closely with the Senior Director, Leadership Development and Learning, to support the facilitation of global leadership and learning programs.

  • Partner with regional leadership to understand and respond to regional development needs, championing global learning programs and resources, and developing localised solutions where required.

  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, such as HR, business leaders, and subject matter experts, to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Manage a team of L&D specialists, providing mentorship, coaching, and direction to ensure the successful execution of all regional learning initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging a growth mindset and providing opportunities for employees to develop new skills and competencies.

Learning Program Implementation:

  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Onboarding Excellence to ensure the successful onboarding of new hires across North America, ensuring engaging and impactful experiences that set them up for long-term success.

  • Spearhead the development and execution of the internship program to attract, retain, and develop top talent across the region, in partnership with our Talent Acquisition partners.

  • Collaborate with the global L&D team and other regional L&D partners to adapt and localize learning content and resources for the North American employee population.

Program Effectiveness and Optimization:

  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make data-driven decisions to optimize the employee experience and maximize the impact of L&D efforts.

  • Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of learning programs, using data and metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Budget and Vendor Management:

  • Manage the regional L&D budget and resources, ensuring efficient and strategic allocation of funds.

  • Coordinate with internal and external trainers, facilitators, and vendors to ensure high quality programme delivery.

Leadership and Engagement:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to regional business leaders, understanding their challenges and priorities, and aligning learning interventions to support their goals.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging learning technologies to continuously enhance the employee learning experience.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning and Development, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in learning and development, with a proven track record of leading successful regional or global learning initiatives.

  • Experience managing and developing high-performing learning and development teams.

  • Data Center or high-tech experience is preferred, but not required.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering a wide range of development initiatives at all levels, including onboarding, internship initiatives, technical training, and in-role career progression.

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into targeted learning solutions with demonstrated measurable results.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.

  • Proficient in using learning management systems, data analytics tools, and other relevant learning technologies.

  • Adaptable and innovative, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Passion for driving a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Driven, strong communicator, outstanding written & communication skills along with high attention-to-detail, required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $160,000-170,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
