JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Oversee Operational needs of the Department.
- Ensures and verifies inventory, supplies, reagent and blood products are appropriate for the operational needs of the department.
- Ensures all received items are suitable for use in patient testing and communicates with vendors directly to trouble shoot issues
- Follows section's inventory control system to assure effective use of supplies and reagents.
- Complies with all manufacture guidelines and regulatory standards regarding equipment management and maintenance practices.
- Complies with safety guidelines and procedures and adheres to regulatory mandates.
- Serves as the primary liaison for reagent and blood product inventory ordering and issues and proactively communicates to vendors and leadership.
- Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and documentation systems.
- Serves as Subject matter expert in Lab Information System and equipment tracking system, and computer functions in assigned areas.
Enhances productivity and laboratory lab functions by demonstrating dependability.
- Adjusts, prioritizes, and organizes work to achieve maximum productivity to meet the workload demands of the section.
- Assists peers and leadership with tasks after completion of assigned work.
- Adheres to attendance policy, begins work as scheduled.
- Works independently, utilizes resources available to maximize efficiency.
Customer Service
- Manages all customer service interactions with diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing the needs of clients both internal and external.
Computer Skills
- Maintains proficiency on computer functions in the lab processes.
- Maintain up to date records of all equipment maintenance and quality control in recording system.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION - Associate's Degree Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. Required or Bachelor's Degree Related science field or Molecular Genetic Technology Required or Successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetics Technology accredited program. Required or Master's Degree Related science field. Preferred or Doctorate Related science field. Preferred WORK EXPERIENCE - 10 years Clinical laboratory experience with an Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. Required or 9 years Clinical laboratory experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related science field with Bachelor's Degree. Required or 8 years Clinical laboratory experience with the completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) accredited Clinical Laboratory Science/Molecular Genetic Technology accredited program. Required 6 years Clinical laboratory experience with a Master's degree. Preferred or 4 years Clinical laboratory experience with a Doctorate degree. Preferred or 3 years Blood banking experience. Preferred LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - MLS-ASCP - Medical Lab Scientist American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry (BOR). Upon Hire Preferred or MT - Medical Technologist American Medical Technologists (AMT). Upon Hire Preferred or MDT - Molecular Diagnostics Tech American Medical Technologists (AMT).
