River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).

River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Social Worker/Therapist PRN-WEEKDAYS . Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to providing clinical social work expertise to hospital wide programs; deliver social services in assigned areas according to patient needs, adhere to standards of patient quality care and work as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and within guidelines set by the Social Services Department and the individual unit Program Director.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Experience: Two years post graduate work experience in mental health or related field preferred. Two years direct practice experience and/or clinical (graduate, continuing ed., etc.) training specific to individual, family and group therapy (if specialized issues group, training must be specific to issue)
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field required
  • Licensure/Certification: Must have a current certification or licensure by the State of Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or under supervision pursuing licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT
  • Working Knowledge: Must have good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan. Must have good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly. Must have communication and teamwork abilities to support the clinicians, nurses and utilization review colleagues working with the population. Must possess a working knowledge of how to identify appropriate referral resources within the community and organizational skills to engage in case management, including discharge planning.
  • Ability to assess the needs and provide the required range of treatment modalities and interventions
  • A minimum of one year experience in discharge planning, clinical case management or a similar position in a community based agency setting which provides experience in referrals for patients.
  • Experience with performing utilization reviews.
