This Seattle-based maritime company focused on providing unique maritime solutions for its customers is looking for a Maritime Operations Manager. This position will work closely with the Vessel Manager to coordinate vessel operations, including human resources, vessel needs, client interface, port calls, and crew requirements.


Essential Functions:

  • Support the vessel manager as required with the vessel's daily operations.
  • Anticipate and respond to vessel daily needs.
  • Maintain and update vessel crew schedule.
  • Create a charter summary sheet for each contract, inclusive of all major items.
  • Coordinate vessel logistics, including port calls, pilots, parts through customs, agent coordination when visiting foreign countries, crew visas, notice of arrivals and departures, etc., as directed by the Vessel Manager.
  • Carry out crew rotations per schedule. Including booking travel, accommodations, and required testing.
  • Complete crew contracts and ensure all documents and licenses are current.
  • Communicate with crew to continue to build and support a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
  • Assist in the interview and hiring process for vessel crew.
  • Process crew bi-weekly payroll with accounting
  • Monitor, track, and file vessel daily and SMS reports.
  • Monitor renewals for onboard safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, life rafts, EPIRBS, etc.
  • Purchasing and logistics: Review vessel requisitions, track purchases when approved, and ensure delivery to the vessel.
  • Participate in weekly vessel operation calls.
  • Liaison between ships, internal company departments, and occasionally vendors and clients.
  • Assist with injury and illness claims as requested by the HR or HSE Department
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the VP of Operations or Vessel Manager.
  • Understand and support SMS onboard the vessels


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and work experience in the maritime industry or prior military experience
  • Experience with operations or human resources
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, sometimes on short notice
  • Ability to connect and communicate with all levels
  • Results-oriented, self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong ability to organize and communicate with others
  • Strong work ethics, values, and principle
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have a US passport
