Support for Early Learning & Families (SELF) seeks an experienced, engaging, and dedicated Center Based Bilingual ECEAP Family Support Specialist to join our educational community.This is a full-time, school year based, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Center Director. This position is based in Vancouver, WA .

SELF Mission:
Support for Early Learning and Families (SELF) convenes and mobilizes partners and stakeholders throughout Southwest Washington to promote community awareness and advocacy for early learning, kindergarten readiness and school success for all children.
We work in partnership with the Educational Service District (ESD) 112 to staff and facilitate numerous childcare centers in the southwest Washington area. Our programs are designed to support children at ages ranging from birth, to preschool, to school age. We have program types to support children of all backgrounds and needs. About the Bilingual ECEAP Family Support Specialist Position :
Role of Family Support Specialist: Family Support Specialists explore, provide, and coordinate services and resource access with enrolled families. They coordinate family and Center community activities that support the mission of familial strength, healthy living, and overall well-being. Family Support Specialists are to bring support in a case management style and act as a liaison between families, staff, the community, and other family-related services. Utilizing a strengths focused approach, Family Support Specialists work to encourage and support families to build self-efficacy strategies for their children and their family system.
Building Relationships with Families: Demonstrate unconditional positive regard for families with diverse and varying values, culture, socioeconomic status, and lifestyle circumstances. Work collaboratively with each family to recognize and identify the family's strengths and needs. Establish and maintain professional roles and boundaries in the working relationship with families. Encourage families to take part in the child(ren)'s program.
ECEAP and ESD112 Program Performance Standards: The Family Support Specialist is responsible for meeting program service goals and outcomes through case management within the Center and home visits environments, as well as phone and email contacts. The Family Support Specialist maintains all documentation and data collection in accordance with program and agency requirements. The Family Support Specialist participates in ongoing in-service training and educational classes for professional development as assigned and to meet ongoing Federal, State, and organizational training requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • An associate or higher degree with the equivalent of thirty college quarter credits of adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, or related field. Thirty credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.
  • Bilingual
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work within a team and work effectively with other people.
  • Ability to follow directions and follow through efficiently on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment with constant interruptions, while maintaining a focus on children and meeting program requirements
  • Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
  • Must present a professional and positive demeanor in behavior and dress.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds of families served.
Requirements
Agency Coordinated:
  • Enrollment in DCYF background check system - - FREE
  • A valid WA Food Handlers Card. More information:
  • Completion of Washington State HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens - FREE
  • Participation in Washington's State Training and Registry System (STARS) program required - (enroll within 45 days of hire date)
Health and Safety Requirements - All Initial Health and Safety Requirements are Agency Funded and Facilitated:
  • A valid CPR/First Aid certification - child/infant.
  • Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test - Valid testing within previous 12 months.
  • Documented immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).
  • Initial health exam completed by medical provider.
