Position Summary
Dallas College is seeking a strategic, positive, organized, and enthusiastic team member to produce events across Dallas College from conception through to completion. Responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing successful and memorable events that meet quality expectations.
This role will serve as the primary point of contact for various internal and external customers hosting an event that serves Dallas College. This role will work directly with clients from the intake stage to post-event evaluation, collaborating with campus-wide departments across all departments to plan and implement quality events. Potential events range from small, on-campus executive meetings to large-scale events such as Dallas College Commencement and Conference Day. Modalities include in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

  • Proven experience in planning and executing events of varying sizes and modalities.

  • Ability to utilize technology to operate in a complex communications portal/platform.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to multitask and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to plan, organize and schedule staff and tasks effectively to achieve objectives.

  • Able to use multiple methods to communicate information and choose method that is appropriate to the audience.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and have high ethical standards.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), WebEx, and other media related software.
Key Responsibilities
Event management
  • Manage, develop, and create small and/or large-scale personal or corporate events such as employee events, conferences, ceremonies, parades, formal parties, etc. that involve project management approaches.
  • Analyze and study the brand, identify its target audience, devise the event concept, and coordinating the technical aspects before actually launching the event. Plan and execute the event, taking responsibility for the creative, technical, and logistical elements.
  • Works the overall event design, brand building, marketing and communication strategy, audio-visual production, script writing, logistics, budgeting, negotiation, and client service.
Brand Ambassador
  • Serves as the advocate, and gatekeeper for the Dallas College Brand, and make sure other functional leaders embrace this stewardship.
  • As needed, champion an ongoing renewal and refinement of each brand's positioning and architecture, derived from a data-based understanding of key brands and competitive brand health measures, and a keen understanding of rapidly changing digital technological, higher education environments
Agency/Vendor Management
  • Responsible for enhancing the Marketing and Event program execution, and organizational Marketing capabilities, as a critical driver of enhanced, more tightly integrated Marketing, across the entire organization.
  • Assessing the collection of agencies, suppliers, and consultants who are engaged with Dallas College, to ensure the Company is getting the expertise it needs to maximize Marketing impact.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, event planning or communications preferred, related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in event management, marketing, or customer service
  • Proven track record of successfully handling and prioritizes multiple projects while working against tight timelines.
  • Must be functioning at a moderate level on Leadership and functional competencies
  • Higher education experience preferred.
  • Official transcripts required.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
