The Regional Tax Manager will be part of a highly competent Global Tax team of 8 people and will be responsible for overseeing and managing the tax affairs for the North and South America region. The right candidate will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of challenging tasks in a truly international and dynamic company.
This role ensures compliance with regional tax regulations, optimizes tax structures and provides strategic tax planning and tax advice to support business objectives. The Regional Tax Manager will work closely with the rest of the Global Tax team, and with the group's Accounting, Finance and Commercial teams. This position is responsible for managing tax reporting and tax compliance for all legal entities in the region, and for tax planning for projects in the region. Currently the group has presence in e.g. the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, but are also operating in other Latin and South American countries.
The position will be part of the Finance team in Houston, Texas and will report to the Head of Global Tax, which is located in Oslo, Norway.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax obligations in the region, including filing tax returns and meeting reporting requirements
  • Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize tax structures and support business goals
  • Tax Support to projects: Provide support and tax advice for all significant projects to ensure tax costs are optimized and included in project costing
  • Tax Reporting: Prepare and review tax reports for regional operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax regulations
  • Tax Research and Analysis: Stay current on changes in regional tax laws and conduct research to determine the impact on the organization
  • Transfer Pricing: Contribute to the preparation of transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with the regional transfer pricing regulations in cooperation with the rest of the Global Tax team
  • Collaboration with other departments: Work closely with Commercial teams throughout the organization, Finance, Legal and other departments to provide tax advice and support on business transactions and initiatives
  • Tax Audits: Manage requests from and communication with tax authorities in the region, and manage external tax advisors
  • Tax Accounting: Manage quarterly provision work and tax contingency analysis for the region
Job Requirements (Education and Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Tax or related field
  • CPA qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, working with international tax issues as an advisor or in an in-house role
  • Experience from the Energy industry or the offshore sector is an advantage
  • Proficiency in U.S. tax compliance and law
