Job Summary:
The Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities supports the mission of the University by coordinating and administering all facets of the student conduct review system as outlined in the Student Policy Guide and Guide to Living at Linfield. The position reports to the Dean of Students and works closely with the Offices of Linfield Public Safety, Residential Life and Student Activities. The Director assists and advises the Peer and University Hearing Boards, as detailed in the Student Policy Guide.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer the student conduct review system with fairness and consistency, maintaining a student-centered approach.
Coordinate the development, interpretation, and enforcement of the Universitys rules and regulations pertaining to students.
Develop appropriate, educational responses to conduct violations, especially in the area of alcohol and other drugs.
Assist in managing the overall student adjudication process, including identification, training and oversight of administrative hearing officers.
Conduct investigative interviews for student on student related cases.
Develop and coordinate training sessions pertaining to the Universitys policies, and administrative hearing and conduct review board processes.
Ensure proper administrative and student representation on the student Peer Hearing Board, in keeping with stated campus policies, and assist with coordinating training and activities.
Serve as Administrative Hearing Officer when hearing boards are out of session.
Communicate and consult with members of the Linfield community, including (but not limited to) athletics and residential life staff, and faculty, on how to address specific student behavioral issues.
Assist with policy revision and processes outlined in the Student Policy Guide, and ensure their proper dissemination and distribution.
Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator and Office of Linfield Public Safety in maintaining statistics for Clery Act reporting, and compile annual statistics related to student conduct violations.
Serve as the investigator for complaints against students under the Title IX and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Policy and Procedures.
Serve as part of the Linfield Title IX team in providing support and education to the Linfield community and keeping policies updated to comply with changing federal regulations.
Manage the Universitys use of the "Advocate" database system, serve as liaison with the vendor.
Data analysis, report writing and presentation bi-annually on student conduct violations and student demographics.
Attend weekly meeting with Area Directors, Dean of Students, Director of Student Health, Wellness, and Counseling Center, and Director of Linfield Public Safety.
Attend weekly meeting with the University Care team to collaborate in supporting student resolution of educational and personal challenges.
Participate in Student Affairs Division activities and development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Success Factors:
Strong organizational and communication skills, and a compassionate yet firm approach to student conduct are required for success. Ability to work collaboratively with several different populations, including but not limited to students, members of the Division of Student Affairs, Linfield Public Safety, faculty, parents/family, and support staff. A sense of humor and the ability to multi-task and prioritize situations are also key attributes.

Working conditions:
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be expected, as are long periods of sitting and several hours a day of computer use.

Qualifications:
A master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or Higher Education and a minimum of 3-5 years post-master's experience in student conduct is required.
Training and experience conducting student conduct investigations including, but not limited to Title IX and harassment.

Work is performed in an office environment and is sedentary in nature. Constant sitting, hearing, seeing, talking and repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
