Role Overview: The Director of Distribution Center Operations is a senior level management position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for managing all logistics and distribution center functions for B2B and direct-to-consumer fulfillment, domestic manufacturing and personalization production. Directly or indirectly supervises all employees in the distribution Center. Responsible for all functions within Distribution Center. The individual must be able to strategically drive operational efficiency improvement. We are looking for someone who is proactive and future thinking but does not mind rolling up their sleeves and being a hands-on manager.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Day-to-day operation of the distribution center with emphasis on management of supervisory personnel and the development and implementation of distribution center action plans.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor the receiving, storage, fulfillment, production domestically manufactured goods and personalized product, and distribution of all items produced and sold by Gerson.
  • Ensure that inventory is accurate and organized at all times.
  • Continually build knowledge through reading, outside relationships with peers, professional organizations, site visits, and trade shows to keep pace with new and better ways to operate. Organize and present best practices and potential areas of improvement to Chief Operating Officer and Leadership Team.
  • Implement processes to ensure that any retailer compliance requirements are met.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers/vendors, outsourcers, and other organizations to maintain cost effective and efficient flow of supplies and product in and out of the DC.
  • Lead and participate in strategic planning and strategic projects that are related to DC operations.
  • Develop and present the DC strategy to upper-level management.
  • Maintain a high level of morale with all DC staff in accordance with the company core values and culture survey goals.
  • Working under minimum direction, be able to identify, according to broadly stated goals, analyze and resolve a wide range of issues, providing quick and decisive solutions within the context of existing policies and identify the need for revision or creation of policies.
  • Track and maintain efficient operational metrics according to the key performance indicators of the organization and develop additional key performance indicators that are specific to the DC to maintain and improve performance.
  • Develop the annual DC budget according to financial guidelines provided by Finance. Track expenses throughout the year and prepare monthly explanation of expenses related to the budget and develop action plans to close gaps.
  • Provide feedback and drive accountability throughout the DC organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. in business or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Distribution center Management Software (WMS).
  • Minimum 5 years of management level experience managing a logistics in a retail distribution center environment.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation and interpersonal skills are essential

Work Environment:

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to forklifts, reach trucks, stock pickers, and Pallet Movers (PEs). The employee's work will be performed in a distribution center that is not climate-controlled 50% (estimated) of the time, with the other 50% (estimated) being performed in an office environment. The employee will be exposed to moderate noise levels.
