Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute (FPG ) is one of the nation's oldest and largest multidisciplinary centers devoted to the study of children and their families. FPG focuses on vulnerable populations and those with special needs, creating a welcoming place for all.
Position Summary This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The Senior Research Scientist must demonstrate significant leadership by obtaining external funding, administering projects, and publishing work in peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to serve as the Associate Director for Research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, a relevant Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience may be accepted.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience related to children, adolescents, or young adults with developmental disabilities; demonstrated experience in written communication, public speaking, and knowledge of research methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prefer a Ph.D. in a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with success in obtaining federal funding and program leadership experience.
