A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Sr. Manager, Supply Sales is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of the Supply Sales team by motivating, training, and managing the department of Supply Sales and Benefit Verification Specialists through subordinate managers & supervisors to perform at peak efficiency. With a thorough knowledge of supply order processing, the Sr. Manager, Customer Sales Support ensures the timely and accurate processing of shipments for maximum reimbursement through all sales channels.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages and motivates their team to meet and exceed the company’s supply sales goals.
  • Oversees the hiring, development, performance appraisal, merit recommendation, and promotion of department staff.
  • Works closely with subordinate managers & supervisors to develop and administer department recognition programs.
  • Works cross-functionally on projects related to process improvement and system efficiencies for all teams within Customer Sales Support.
  • Collaborates with WFM team in assisting the Finance team with revenue and budget forecasting and modeling.
  • Works closely with WFM to manage the short and long-term planning for the department including headcount, budgeting, training, and systems requirements.
  • Creates and implements team processes.
  • Ensures staff adherence to insurance contracts and any specific rules and regulations imposed by third party payors.
  • Manages the Benefit Verification team to ensure on time and accurate collection and data entry of customer benefit information.
  • Owns developing game plan on expanding automation and self-service products to enhance customer experience while working collaboratively with appropriate leaders.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of Tandem Diabetes Care products, diabetes care disease state and therapy platforms including pump therapy, as well as becoming well versed in competitor products, programs, and alternative therapies.
  • Monitors Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) queues and reports Service Level performance, average speed of answer, abandon call rates, average handle times, occupancy, and other call center metrics.
  • Works with Customer Support Trainer to assist in the development of educational and training materials.
  • Attends and participates in sales meetings, conference calls, training programs, and trade shows as directed by sales management.
  • Develops and prepares monthly reports for senior management.
  • Acts as liaison between inside staff and field sales staff to provide metrics and respond to escalated issues.
  • Supports the development, communication, and evaluation of goals for the group on an annual basis.
  • Partners with Human Resources to develop and administer the Customer Sales Support incentive compensation program.
  • Works closely with the Reimbursement team to ensure adherence to Finance Dept. policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining high service levels and ensuring customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Ensures department staff is properly trained, per designated training plan, before assuming job responsibilities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding medical reimbursement, documentation, and coding.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations.
  • Proven success in motivating and managing staff to work closely with customer support, finance, and sales teams.
  • Able to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
  • Skilled at creating a team environment that supports a common vision.
  • Proficient at effectively prioritizing goals, assessing team capability, and coordinating resources to achieve those goals.
  • Proficient with MS Office, internet savvy, and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to lead team meetings and deliver technical training sessions.

Minimum experience:

  • 7 years’ experience in a combination of the following:
  • Related industry experience
  • Inside sales management
  • Medical insurance reimbursement verification
  • 2 years’ experience leading and managing a customer facing team
  • Successful track record of developing and implementing processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders for company products.
  • Extensive experience with inside sales, insurance verification, filing reimbursement claims, communicating with payors, and resolving denials with favorable results.

Minimum certifications/educational level:

  • B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
