TITLE : Senior Project Engineer
DUTIES : FEV North America, Inc. seeks a Senior Project Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Lead projects in development of compression ignition engines, spark-ignited engines, diesel engine aftertreatment systems, electrified powertrains, and fuel cell systems for on-road and off-road applications; Perform model-based development of advanced powertrain concepts, fuel-cell systems, engine combustion systems, and powertrain thermal management systems; Conduct model-based development activities including system simulation, control strategy development, and virtual calibration; Manage projects, mentor lesser experienced engineers, and provide general technical direction to the project team; Provide customer communication, which includes presentation of analysis results, data correlation, interpretation of technical data, communication of program status, as well as, guidance of technical discussions regarding project direction; Support proposal preparation efforts which includes writing, resource planning, and reviewing prior to submission to the customer; Contribute to research and studies that lead to industry publications and patent applications.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and 36 months of experience in the job offered or related position in engine, hybrid, and fuel cell powertrain development. Required experience must include: Experience with model-based development of compression ignition engines (diesel), spark-ignited engines (H2, CH4), diesel engine aftertreatment systems, hybrid powertrains, fuel cell powertrains, and vehicle thermal management systems; Experience applying development activities in propulsion system simulation, thermal system simulation (motor, battery, fuel cells, and cabin HVAC), engine thermodynamic simulation, powertrain control strategy development, and virtual calibration; Experience with simulation and tools, including GT-SUITE (engine thermodynamic simulation, aftertreatment simulation, vehicle propulsion system simulation, vehicle thermal system simulation), GT-SUITE-RT (real-time system simulation), GT-RealDrive (real drive cycle generation), Matlab/Simulink (control software development, plant modeling, virtual calibration); Experience with aftertreatment simulation and its applications to Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Electric Heater (EH), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), and Ammmonia Slip Catalyst (ASC) components and 1D modeling tools (GT-SUITE / Matlab / Simulink); Experience with electrified powertrain architecture optimization and controls strategy development for achieving state-of-the-art powertrain performance and for meeting future emission legislations for world-wide markets; Experience with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) concepts, including Eco-Approach (EA), Predictive Cruise Control (PCC), and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control (AACC)
