ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Chicago State University (CSU), founded in 1867, is the oldest public university in the Chicago Metropolitan area. ABOUT THE CHICAGO STATE FOUNDATION

The Chicago State Foundation is the official gift receiving and fundraising organization of Chicago State University. The mission of CSF is to advance the interests and welfare of the University. CSF is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts and grants to CSU. The Board of Trustees of Chicago State University created the Foundation in 2015. CSF has a separate Board of Directors to whom the Executive Director reports.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Deputy Director of the Chicago State Foundation shall serve as a key advisor to the Executive Director actively assisting with the ongoing and effective management of the business operations of the Foundation. The Deputy Director shall directly support implementation of CSF’s strategic plan, budget management and the development and implementation of processes and procedures that ensure operational effectiveness. This is a senior level position. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work well with all members of a diverse college community.

Strategic Management and Leadership:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will be responsible for the strategic direction of Chicago State Foundation.
  • Support management of the organization’s strategic plan and budget.
  • Supervise and mentor senior staff to ensure quality work and accountability.
  • Prioritize deadlines, calendar requests, issues and information to facilitate effective and efficient executive decision-making.
  • Ensure the operationalization and adherence to all Chicago State Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Create a supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility and commitment to Chicago State Foundation goals and values.

Operational Management:

  • Direct and manage day-to-day operations of Chicago State Foundation.
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the Chicago State Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the financial management and be responsible for ensuring quality and integrity of the systems and policies.
  • Oversee management of contracts, procurement, and operations.
  • Support and oversight to the team in all program planning, budgeting, documentation and monitoring.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and quality financial and narrative reporting compliance with donors.
  • Ensure efficient and functioning operation systems.
  • Foster intra-organizational linkages, communication and synergies within CSF.
  • Implement and foster adherence to the established CSF policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures and strengthen transparent governance.
  • Contribute effectively to the overall strategic visioning, conceptual development, planning and monitoring of CSF’s work.
  • Ensure adherence to policies and statutory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

The Successful Candidate’s Qualifications Should Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 4+ years of corporate business experience.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
