How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
The Software Engineer develops and maintains code on one or more aspects of the Airgas Cloud Services platform. The Sr. Software Engineer is a flexible role, able to work on SQL for the database, back end scripting, automated reporting, ETL, and the User Interface as needed. Work will be done in tandem with the Testing Engineer to ensure new features are created with little to no defects or bugs. Some participation in evaluating and testing new software development technologies that may benefit the system is expected.
- Write and maintain software in a Linux-based software stack.
- Develop software for any of the below aspects of the system with one as a primary focus:
- Develop Java-based web sites for the ACS UI (Servlets, JSPs, HTML, CSS, JQuery, etc)
- Write efficient SQL queries to support development tasks or for ad-hoc reporting
- Create new database structures and tables to support development tasks as needed
- Develop back end jobs for automated reporting, data-processing and ETL operations.
- Participate in the development of a Restful Service to augment the ACS platform.
- Research, learn, test, and develop Proof of Concept applications for new software/technology that may be useful to the ACS platform.
- Provide feedback in the creation of user manuals and other relevant documentation as needed.
- Troubleshoot critical issues in the system if they arise.
- Commit code into a GitHub repository
- Create or modify jobs control code in bash
- Create and modify job code defined in Perl
- Understand fundamentals of a relational, ACID compliant PostgreSQL database or similar.
- Contribute to database design changes and feature enhancements
Are you a MATCH?
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience developing and releasing software in a production environment
- Jira project management
- Microsoft Office - Intermediate
- Software Engineering (Linux) - Java, Bash, Perl, HTML, CSS, JQuery, SQL, C/C++
- Technologies - PostgreSQL, Apache, Apache Tomcat, OpenSuse Linux, Open SSL
- Comfortable finding, learning, and evaluating new software technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software or programming languages (with some supervision) and create valuable applications based on the new knowledge
- Knowledge of software development version control tools such as GitHub a plus
