Business Objects Data Services / ETL / SME

Overview

This position involves an analytical problem solver performing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) from various data sources using specialized Data Services (BODS) and other tools to provide data analytics capabilities from SQL, Oracle, MySql and other relational database management systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and test ETL jobs with SAP Data Services that meet user and business requirements.
• Works with the business and IT to gather/analyze requirements for optimized solutions; deliverables to include host of existing and new projects and enhancements.
• Manages and/or provides software development support using format specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques and performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
• Translate operational problem statements into data analysis and reporting.
• Propose new data models and visualization tools to more effectively spot trends and anomalies in large amounts of data.
• Develop and maintain data queries, reports, and analytics.
• Create project analysis and project documentation.
• Performs systems, integration, and user acceptance testing of ETL jobs, web applications, interfaces, database front-ends, and web sites documenting and reporting results.
• Develops System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards and standards compliance.
• Maintains and provides optimizations and enhancements to existing ETL applications, portals, interfaces, and database front-ends.
• Makes recommendations and implements enhancements to existing systems resulting in improved system efficiencies and performance.

Qualifications

• At least an Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical field and one (1) year of systems engineering experience, or
• At least three years (3) years of systems engineering experience and no degree requirement
• Experience in Data Services (BODS) Designer Components - Projects, Jobs, Workflow, Data Flow, Scripts, Data Stores and Formats.
• Experience in Data Services Management Console for monitoring, execution, and scheduling BODS jobs.
• Strong SQL, analytical and communication skills.
• Exposure to integrating Data Services with different applications and different Databases like MS SQL, Oracle, MySql, etc.
• Ability to utilize reporting tools preferred.
