Job Description

• Write and effectively optimize machine code for advanced interpolation functions for the following processes vertical and horizontal milling, large part turning utilizing live tooling and Plasma and Oxy/Fuel plate cutting.
• Possess a working knowledge that consists of standard Machine shop and sheet metal fabrication practices.
• Familiar with Plasma and Laser cutting processes. Must have the ability to modify process parameters to ensure optimum cut quality.
• Interpret material standards for Mechanical and Chemical composition in order to determine proper combination of work and tool materials.
• Complete accurate Surface Feet per Minute calculations for speeds and feed Values. To include Turning, Milling, Drilling, Reaming, Thread cutting and Broaching.
• Understanding of Helical Path composition. Helix radius and ramp angle.
• Specify machine tool, work support and work holding requirements for a machining application. To include machine power estimates and spindle load.
• Identify tool wear, dictate tool life cycle calendar.
• Create and compile necessary documents to aid in setup of machines
• Develops product/process designs and implements production methods to reduce manufacturing costs and ensure quality as part of the process while working with CNC Machinist.
• Drive manufacturing development, increased productivity, and continuous improvement with a focus on lean principles.
• Partner with product designers, materials management, supplier quality, supply chain, and operations to deliver and execute manufacturing solutions for new and existing products.
• Master cam and nesting software a plus.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

  1. Education
  • AA Machine tool or equivalent work experience
  1. Experience
  • 2 - 5 yrs experience writing CNC programs in a machining and sheet metal fabrication environment. This includes Plate Nesting for material utilization

III. Preferred Qualifications

  1. Education or Experience
  • AA Machine tool or equivalent work experience

  • 2 - 5 yrs experience in a machining manufacturing environment

  • 2 - 5 years of Lean manufacturing

  1. Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data
  • Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and pursue alternate methods when required
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and extract, lead, and implement improvement ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and partner with cross-functional teams
  • Must be time-driven, possess a strong product development & operations attitude.
  1. Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge, belief, and application history of lean manufacturing principles

  • Strong MasterCam skills

  • Jig and fixture design and implementation

  • Problem solving within a PDCA cycle

  • CAD – Solid Edge preferred. AutoCAD a plus.

  • LN ERP system

  • Team Center and Team Center Manufacturing

  • Mathematical skills

  • MS Project
