About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Medical Director of University Health and Counseling Services, the Nurse Supervisor is primarily responsible for medical triage, managing the nurse teams, managing the daily functions and operational support of the clinic. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for maintaining safe and appropriate clinical procedures and maintaining an efficient clinical environment. This may include inventory management, monitoring of medical equipment, reviewing and implementing clinic operational protocols for nurses and/or medical assistants, and managing the schedule for nurses and/or medical assistants. The Nurse Supervisor works inclusively and collegially in a busy and highly diverse student and staff environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Clinical responsibilities include providing triage medical care for students presenting via walk-in or telephone triage.
  2. Manage follow-up care for students recently hospitalized or cared for in a local Emergency Department.
  3. Supervise nursing staff; hold bimonthly nursing and MA training meetings; complete annual performance evaluations for all staff nurses and medical assistants. This model may be shifting likely leading to a greater portion of supervision for nursing staff.
  4. Oversee the day-to-day immunizations, injection, and triage care, including staff scheduling, time sheet approvals.
  5. Assist with Managing Inventory and Ordering of Supplies, Medications, Vaccines; Assist in compliance with immunization database documentation (MIIS) as per requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  6. Work with Patient Service Specialist Supervisor to manage the maintenance of medical equipment.
  7. Direct CLIA-Waived Laboratory, performing waived tests and provider performed microscopy; assure compliance with proficiency testing for provider performed microscopy.
  8. Collaborate with NUPD to ensure that CPR trainings are up to date and to ensure all clinical staff are meeting employment compliance requirements including compliance with vaccines, trainings and Tb screening.
  9. Collaborate with Human Resources for Talent Acquisition, Temporary Hires, and Onboarding New Hire Personnel part of the Nursing Staff and Medical Assistant Team.
  10. Collaborate with Medical Director to develop and establish clinic policies and procedures; conducts annual review and update.
  11. Consult with Executive Director and Medical Director regarding Health Services budget expenditures and supplies management.
  12. Collaborate with Associate Director of Systems and Technology to optimize use of Electronic Health Record (EHR).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
  2. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  3. Primary Care or Acute Care experience required.
  4. Experience supervising nursing staff required.
  5. Demonstrated accountability and dependability.
  6. Demonstrated positive attitude and ability to be a team player.
