Summary Position is located at the Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center (VAMC) with the HUD-VASH program at the Ventura CBOC. The purpose of the Housing Management Assistant is to link Veterans in the HUD VASH program to permanent housing. The Housing Management Assistant establishes and maintain relationships with landlords, private agencies, non-profit agencies, and governmental agencies who serve the homeless, as well as VA staff who work with Veterans in need of transitional or permanent housing. Responsibilities Assist Veterans with the housing search and lease up process by acting as a liaison between all parties, including but not limited to the VA, PHA, landlord, and Veteran, to address housing needs. Help VASH participants fill out rental applications, assist in preparing for interview with potential landlord, and transport VASH participants to view identified available units. Identify and contact local landlords and realtors to find potential housing units for Veterans to lease as well as maintain a database of landlords and property management companies that accept HCV subsidies Assist with gathering of required documents needed to obtain security deposits, knowledge of funding sources for security deposit assistance, and the ability to educate Veterans on the funding resources available. Provide transportation for Veterans as needed to assist with housing leads and applications for housing. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4-year course of study post high school; or combination of experience and education. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond .
