Responsibilities:

The software engineering team focuses on the development, and support of a customer-centric insurance product suite. As a Sr. Software Development Engineer, you’ll be an integral member of a team that builds and customizes in-house and third-party software, delivering an efficient and seamless experience. You’ll deliver quality code that enables the team to design highly scalable solutions within a multi-tenant architecture and standardize common functionality.

  1. Work collaboratively and individually to contribute working code that the team has committed to deliver, according to the project’s contribution guidelines.
  2. Review and offer constructive feedback on others’ code.
  3. Be an active collaborator in regular technical planning sessions.
  4. Propose technical and process improvements that will help the team deliver better and faster results, and innovations that will delight the customer.
  5. Partner with other teams to coordinate, collaborate, and contribute as needed.
  6. Draft technical designs to support business requirements. Refine and build consensus with the team to prepare for delivery. Designs may touch any/all layers of the tech stack.
  7. Guide the team to design and deliver solutions that uphold technical standards and have a positive impact on the delivery metrics we track.
  8. Maintain awareness of the product roadmap and business context.

Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years’ experience in enterprise software development
  2. 5+ years’ experience with OOP languages such as Java
  3. 5+ years’ experience developing, designing, and querying SQL databases
  4. 5+ years’ experience building scalable micro services, using REST and/or GraphQL
  5. 4+ years’ experience writing test scripts and automated testing with tools such as Katalon
  6. Knowledgeable with CICD processes and pipelines with tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps
  7. Knowledgeable with cloud development and principles, using technologies like Azure or AWS
  8. Knowledgeable with front-end development, using JS frameworks like NextJs, React, Angular, Express, etc
  9. Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams
  10. Demonstrated ability to align product and business’ concerns with engineering
  11. Demonstrated experience and mentoring other developers
  12. Demonstrated experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
  13. Well versed in Agile or similar methodologies

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
