Principal Responsibilities:

Position

Reporting to the CEO, the CAO will define the process and implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support growth and the activities of the JCA. She or he will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and physical infrastructure.

The CAO must juggle the competing demands of all organizations for timely preparation of financial data as well as providing guidance to Senior staff on trends and risks to the budgets.

As a member of the senior management team, the CAO will be involved in strategic planning, forecasting, evaluation of monthly results, and professional development initiatives.

Specific responsibilities include:

Financial Management

  • With the controller:
    • Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials including cash flow forecasts and metrics for finance committees and boards of directors.
    • Meet on a regular basis with Finance Committees.
    • Oversee annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for each organization.
    • Drive annual budget cycles.
    • Coordinate all audit activities.
  • Manage HR and IT.
  • Provide oversight for ongoing pledge payments.

Administrative Leadership and Management

  • Serve as a business partner to the CEO on the financial, budgeting, and administrative processes-including HR, payroll, and benefits functions with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems.
  • Interface and provide direction to outsourced IT staff. Implement new financial and membership management system for JCC.
  • Ability to interface closely with major donors and the members of the BOD.
  • Ability to provide solutions to potential issues and problems.
  • Responsible for record management.
  • Develop process for agency-wide adoption of technology systems with the goal of improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

The CAO will have at least five to ten years of senior professional experience, including managing the finance and administration of a multifaceted organization with minimum revenues of $10 million (preference given to nonprofit experience). She or he will have experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization.

The CAO will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree (MA/MBA preferred) in Accounting.
  • CPA desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP desirable.
  • Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience should include interfacing / directing legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems.
  • Ability to plan for and participate in Board and Officer meetings.
  • Proven leadership effectiveness.
  • Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a shared commitment to the organization's goals.
  • Knowledge of investment strategies.

Compensation

  • Guidelines for base salary from $130,000 to $150,000 depending on level of experience.

The center's Olympic size pool is home to our youth swim team and offers up to eleven lanes for your daily lap routine. Individual and group swim lessons for all ages and water aerobic classes, as well as competitive swim skill-building instruction are the heart of the aquatics program.

We also offer a gated-children's activity pool, splash pad and Sunday Funday poolside events, terrific for the whole family.

The campus also features seven multi-use classrooms, a dedicated game room/teen lounge, arts and crafts room, teaching kitchen and state-of-the-art Early Childhood Center for infants through Pre-K, as well as an outdoor sports court/playground and amphitheater.

As a kosher campus, the onsite Café; Milk and Honey serves a dairy and non-meat menu featuring American, Italian, Mexican and Israeli cuisine and also offers kosher catering.

Ample, well-lighted parking is provided with special senior citizen parking added to our designated handicapped parking spaces.

The Campus offers multi-purpose social hall rental for private, community and Jewish religious events.

OUR PROGRAMS

The Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center (VOSJCC) offers a wide range of educational, cultural, social, fitness and recreational programs for people of all ages and backgrounds.

The VOSJCC promotes active and healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity for all levels and age groups.

We offer personal training, swimming programs and a multitude of group fitness classes for all ages as well as a wide variety of youth sports and adult leagues.

Our Early Childhood Center provides a nurturing, play-based program with experienced, passionate teachers.

Children learn about Jewish holidays, customs and values in a high-quality educational environment. Additionally, preschoolers have the advantage of participating in movement classes and swim lessons.

The Center's Youth and Camping programs not only nurture your child's thirst for knowledge and adventure, but they also provide a fun and safe place to learn fundamental values that will serve them well throughout life.
