CLASSIFICATION : Full Time 1.0 FTE Exempt (to include evening and weekend work as the program demands)

JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to provide strategic oversight to all New Directions prevention and outreach programming. The Director of Programs will oversee the Rape Prevention Education (RPE), Mental Health and Recovery (MHR), Rape Crisis, Domestic Violence Baseline, and other grants. This position will collaborate with our community to advance strategic prevention initiatives in Knox County, inclusive of comprehensive and coordination prevention services, centering youth-led prevention, data driven outcomes, and strategic messaging. New Directions primary prevention programming is delivered through a trauma-informed and anti-oppression framework and within public health approach to prevention. The Director of Programs may be required to assist in other areas based on the needs of the agency.

Leadership

  1. Lead and oversee strategic direction for violence prevention and suicide prevention programs
  2. Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Prevention Team made up of the Prevention Coordinator and Prevention Educators
  3. Organize and lead regular Prevention Meetings and Social Marketing Committee meetings
  4. Address team conflicts and issues as they arise; be proactive in building a strong, mission-focused, and united team
  5. Work with Prevention Coordinator to train new prevention educators
  6. Serve as point of contact for Prevention Programs
  7. Provide in-person training to individuals in a variety of settings
  8. Attend trainings, conferences, webinars, etc. to maintain professional development requirement

Grant Writing

  1. Guide overall operations of the RPE, MHR, Rape Crisis, DV Baseline, and other grants; coordinate implementations of project activities; monitor and evaluate program; promote prevention projects in the county
  2. Ensure entry, tracking, and monitoring of all evaluation databases from all prevention programming
  3. Meet deadlines for grant reporting
  4. Submit reports to Executive Director as necessary

Prevention and Community Based

  1. Build and cultivate relationships with key community and school stakeholders to expand prevention and outreach throughout our community
  2. Work with state representatives on policy-level strategies, including review of data and/or needs assessments, research of best practices, advocacy, and evaluating performance
  3. Observe and provide feedback on presentations periodically to facilitate growth of educators and assist in evaluating performance
  4. Collaborate with the Prevention Team to develop, implement, and evaluate social marketing strategy activities
  5. Coordinate and facilitate the Prevention Advisory Committee (PAC), comprised of community-based prevention and school-based stakeholders
  6. Monitor trends in evidence-based prevention practices and approaches
  7. Ensure culturally inclusive programming that is trauma-informed and within an anti-oppression framework
  8. Provide community training in areas of domestic violence, sexual assault prevention, suicide prevention, and youth-led prevention
  9. Oversee preventionists achieving their prevention certification from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services
  10. Provide programming backup as needed

Other Duties

  1. Represent the agency by participating in community meetings related to this position
  2. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
  3. Serve on community coalitions, as needed
  4. Attend Board meetings, as needed
  5. Serve on Board Committees, as needed
  6. Participate in the planning and implementation of events offered by New Directions, as well as attend scheduled events

Qualifications

  1. Related Bachelor’s degree in either social work, psychology, sociology, education or related field
  2. At least 3 years’ experience in Domestic Violence and/or Sexual Assault programming is preferred
  3. At least 3 years’ of experience working with youth is preferred

  1. A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
  2. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  3. A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
  4. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of New Directions
