Job Description:
- Perform regular balance sheet reviews to provide insight into the balance sheet position and health of the division.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting for NA in accordance with Pearson policies and practices.
- Work with Global Process Owners and Financial Operations team to set performance metrics for the processes in scope, identifying actions to improve where results are below expectations.
- Ensure the NA business divisions operate in line with control and process standards and comply with SOX 404 requirements.
- Ensure Balance Sheet reconciliations are completed to an appropriate quality on a timely basis, with action plans to resolve all reconciling items.
- Preparation and coordination of “Large and Unusual” processes for NA, identifying commercial and operational issues requiring involvement of technical experts within Group Accounting.
- Prepare accounting papers documenting methodologies used and apply Pearson accounting policies where necessary.
- Prepare accounting papers supporting significant accounting judgements.
- Work closely with Finance Global Process owners to ensure process issues are highlighted and resolved, supporting the identification of continuous improvement and automation opportunities across finance processes.
- Drive implementation of global Finance processes, policies, and controls within the team.
- Build a network of partnerships internally and externally to help drive team performance improvement.
Job Requirements:
- Requires four (4) years of experience in financial control or a related occupation, and a professional accounting license (CPA, CA, or equivalent).
- Must have four (4) years of experience in:
- Technical accounting
- Practical application of technical accounting skills
- Finance transformation, data stewardship, and design and process insight analysis in a global consulting practice or a large multinational company
- SOX control frameworks applicable to a large multinational company
- Excel (advanced formulas, tables, formatting, conditional formatting, advanced charting, pivot tables)
- Interpreting data and recommending action on a variety of analyses
- ERP systems
- Must have three (3) years of experience in audit field experience.
- Must have two (2) years of experience in EPM and BI systems and data models.
40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm.
