Technical Project Manager (Costing)

What You Will Do

  • Strong organizational skills for capturing and consolidating information related to all contributions to the cost of a product. Optimizing the following:
    • Costs for materials including electrical and mechanical components
    • Costs for labor
    • Capital costs for supporting equipment
    • Use of factory equipment
    • NRE (Non-returnable Engineering) costs
  • Understanding of a Process Flow as it relates to manufacturing an electronic assembly.
  • Delegation capability for divvying out tasks and responsibilities to teammates.
  • Excellent communication skills to reach out to various manufacturing team members to discuss methodologies for manufacturing in order to understand how they affect cost.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Sales Engineers in providing necessary details to respond to Requests for Quotation or general inquiries about engineering capabilities.
  • Experience summarizing costing information to assist in winning new business opportunities.
    • Documenting assumptions
    • Establishing part costs for Prototype volumes and high volume Production volumes
    • Costs of capital equipment and how to amortize over part costs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Strong communication skills for interacting with cross-functional development and manufacturing team, various suppliers, business development managers, and management. Have skills and experience in influencing decision making and challenge process.
  • Eager to learn the manufacturing equipment capabilities, technologies and materials used to build flexible printed electronics in support of creating accurate costs for customer solutions.
  • Ability to manage a lot of information from many sources, consolidate it into a concise message that can be shared with management and business development managers.
  • Applying DFM concepts early in quotation phase by utilizing an engineering skillset to breakdown customer supplied information into digestible parts for process development and ease of manufacturing.
  • Aptitude for learning a broad range of topics which will be included in the supplier communications such as plastic injection molded parts, graphics, silicone rubber parts, electrical components, and metal stamped parts.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and other technical specifications. Knowledge of Bills of Material (BOM) for electrical and mechanical components.
  • Experience with 2D CAD viewing software such as AutoCAD. Experience with 3D CAD viewing software such as NX or equivalent. SAP experience.
  • Proficient in Excel with formulas, references, and pivot tables. Strong Microsoft knowledge with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
