Job Title: Director of Retail Stores

Pay Rate: $85,000 per year

Position Purpose

This position directly manages all 7 ReStore locations across 3 counties, as well as Julia's Caf & Books. The primary role of the Director of ReStores is to support our core values, mission, leadership development, and succession planning to support future growth and maximize financial success. In addition, the Director of ReStores ensures execution of store operations including but not limited to financial goals, policies, merchandising standards, team development, and customer service. The Director of ReStores will assess opportunities to increase revenue and adjust and update strategy to further our mission.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee financial health of the ReStores and Caf by managing and analyzing sales, net income, and margins, in partnership with the VP of Retail Operations.
  • Partner with ReStore Operations Director and VP of Retail Operations to maintain ReStore training program to ensure all employees are provided with the required training to perform their role.
  • Create an environment that supports our Core Values and encourages an optimistic and motivated workplace through positive reinforcement and creativity.
  • Assist and direct Store Managers in processes that encourage staff ownership and personal accountability.
  • Review monthly financials with stores to ensure understanding of metrics and develop improvement plans as needed.
  • Ensure that ReStore policies and best practices are maintained.
  • Assist in setting annual sales goals based on historical data and market trends.
  • Monitor and track performance on KPIs weekly; celebrate or challenge based on results.
  • Model selling behaviors while in stores and coach ReStore employees to connect with customers.
  • Review category reporting to identify revenue drivers and opportunities for future growth.
  • Partner with VP to determine quarterly focus areas to drive revenue and to use ReStores as a platform to share our mission.
  • Identify and develop special projects to move all stores forward (including contests, merchandising improvements, and sales initiatives).
  • Partner with ReStore Operations Director to ensure that operational projects align with departmental goals.
  • Conduct store visits to assess execution and identify core issues that need to be addressed. Partner with the Director of ReStore Operations on safety and loss prevention audits.
  • Act as a support for HR items (hiring, firing, coaching, compliance).
  • Develop content for weekly and quarterly management meetings.
  • Maintain strong cross-departmental relationships.
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 2-5 years of multi-store management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong intrapersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel, visit stores, and attend meetings.
  • Ability to coach and lead with positivity and optimism while driving a culture of accountability and ownership.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle that will be used for work-related travel.

This position requires working indoors in an office setting, driving between locations within the service area in all types of weather, and working within retail locations on both the sales floor and back dock. The operation of forklifts, ladders, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment may be necessary. Occasionally works in outside conditions.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be on their feet for long periods of time (8-hour days, 5 days/week). The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, carry, as well as pulling and reaching to obtain stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale. Position requires the ability to frequently lift products/supplies, up to 50 lbs. The ability to sit for long periods of time is also necessary.
