MK Services in Middleton, MA is growing and adding more positions! We are looking for a Lathe Machinist to add to our 1st shift !
The CNC Lathe Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts for aerospace and defense applications. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup:
  • Set up CNC lathe machines according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine controls.
  • Perform first-piece inspections to ensure accuracy and quality.
Operation:
  • Operate CNC lathe machines to produce parts as per production schedules.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues promptly.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
Quality Control:
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ensure parts meet all specifications and quality standards.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records.
Safety:
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification in CNC machining or related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe setup and operation.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing is a plus.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine controls.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
