Chemical and Life Sciences Associate - Los Angeles or San Francisco

Job Title: Associate - Chemical and Life Sciences Practice Group

Steptoe LLP seeks an associate with 2-3 years of experience to join our Chemical and Life Sciences practice group in our Los Angeles or San Francisco office. The associate would work with our team of litigators on consumer products-related matters, including California's Proposition 65, false advertising claims, consumer class actions, and products liability.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct research and analysis on consumer products-related legal matters.
2. Draft and argue motions, prepare for and attend hearings.
3. Participate in depositions and trials.
4. Collaborate with team members on projects and receive training.

Qualifications:

1. Strong research, analysis, and writing skills.
2. Experience in defending and taking depositions, motion practice, and brief writing is preferred.
3. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required.
4. Membership in the California Bar, active and in good standing, is also required.
5. A background or interest in science is a plus.

While some experience in these areas is ideal, none is required as we will provide training and work together on projects in real time. We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial working environment that provides training and mentorship.

Compensation: The anticipated salary range is $225,000 to $250,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors.
