Experienced Removal Defense Immigration Attorney

Van Der Hout LLP is a nationally renowned, full-service immigration and nationality law firm located in San Francisco’s Union Square. The firm was founded in 1980, and it represents a wide range of clients in immigration matters, including family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, asylum and other humanitarian relief, removal defense, and federal litigation. We are immigrants’ rights, civil rights, and public interest oriented, with sixteen attorneys and 40+ total staff.

We are seeking a licensed attorney with two or more years of experience for an Associate Attorney position. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney to join one of the preeminent immigration law firms in the country. The attorney will be responsible for their own caseload and will work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff on a multitude of immigration cases, including deportation defense, federal court litigation, family, asylum, naturalization, and the intersection of criminal and immigration law. Our work is done in a variety of forums, such as the Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, USCIS, ICE, CBP, and the federal courts, both at the district court and the appellate court levels. The attorney will also have the opportunity to work on impactful pro bono litigation and advocacy.

We are looking for someone who is interested in working and learning in a cutting-edge, diverse, and complex immigration law practice. We continue to value in-person relationships and collaboration. This is therefore a hybrid position. Attorneys are expected to come into the office on a regular basis.

  • Must be bilingual (Spanish is strongly preferred but other languages are considered as well).
  • Interest in fast-paced and energetic work environment.
  • Interest in civil rights and immigrant rights’ advocacy.
  • Admission in a State Bar.

Benefits:

  • Paid Time Off/Paid Holidays
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision (100% coverage)
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Wellness Reimbursement
