Job Description

A nonprofit organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee and manage investment accounting activities. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in public accounting and a strong understanding of GAAP and audit compliance. Working collaboratively, the new leader will ensure accurate financial management while staying updated on industry regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounting for investment activities: Monitor and execute investment manager capital calls & distributions, review wires, and bank transfers, monitor cash account balances, and reconcile investment cash accounts daily.
  • Monitor and review actionable items on fund correspondence (Corporate Actions, FATCA, CRS, etc.).
  • Prepare and review monthly investment report and asset graph, asset allocation reconciliation, average of assets.
  • Review AP/Grant ACHs payment.
  • Manage general ledger entries and accounting.
  • Assist with the annual/interim audit, grant budget, quarterly tax estimates, 990PF federal return, 990T federal and state tax returns, foreign filings (FBAR, 926s, etc.).
  • Stay abreast of developments and changes in GAAP accounting, Audit compliance, and tax laws.
  • Engage with not-for-profit industry organizations to keep current on developments and best practices.
  • Prepare and review materials for BOD meetings.
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the President/CFO.
  • Assist with accounting/investment software transition.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
  • Five years of investment accounting/audit experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
  • Good understanding of internal controls and investment accounting/audit.
  • Work well in team environment.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Journal entries experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical, highly motivated, and is willing to learn and grow with the company.
