Job Description:
As part of the project engineer role, you will be responsible for leading engineering support to the production organization to ensure deliveries and commitments are met. You'll manage internal and external customer relationships while maintaining communication to management for safety and certification critical changes. Additionally, the role requires a strong understanding of root cause corrective action and change management. The Water Solutions team is looking for a strong leader with superb communication skills and a strong technical background, who wants to make an impact in the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities:
- Confidently provide clear, concise communications with customers, peers, and Collins leadership.
- Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting program productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide customer support for field failure investigations.
- Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
- Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
- Liaise between project management and planning, project teams, and production line management as necessary to support delivery output.
- Support quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate engineering level and qualification level testing. Analyze, interpret, and report out test results.
- Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering setbacks.
- Assess customer issues and develop resolutions that meet Collins and customer objectives.
- Read and interpret drawings, provide mark ups, and coordinate drawing releases.
- Conduct and support internal design reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace Industry experience.
- Experience working with cross functional teams across department and business units.
- Experience with engineering change processes (Teamcenter preferred).
- Strong ability and proven track record of multitasking by owning several projects and running them simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of part production and assembly installation.
