The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will help build and operate a world-class manufacturing function at Intergalactic, crucial for building Intergalactic's enabling technologies and products reliably, repeatably, of the highest quality, and at scale. This individual will lead, develop, create, and manage all aspects of the manufacturing world at Intergalactic to help achieve all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from the time that a new production program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical products to the customer.

Expected Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain effective communication on all aspects of the program among the project team to ensure all goals, tasks, and deliverables are understood clearly.
  2. Oversee day-to-day floor activities and lead operations.
  3. Lead efforts in design for manufacturing and lean manufacturing practices.
  4. Support key decisions by working cross-functionally across departments to achieve program objectives.
  5. Lead manufacturing activities through creative and clear processes resulting in high-quality hardware assembly, integration, and testing.
  6. Design tools and machines used to manufacture products.
  7. Review production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
  8. Oversee the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.
  9. Install new equipment and ensure proper operation; train others to operate new machinery and test equipment.
  10. Prepare operations manuals for new or existing hardware assembly integration and testing.
  11. Maintain knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; recommend and implement new technology and processes.
  12. Create manufacturing work instructions/build books using engineering drawings and specifications.
  13. Create Standard Operating Procedures and maintain proper configuration management.
  14. Conduct lean manufacturing data analysis and improvement projects.
  15. Design and develop future hardware, tooling, and assembly fixtures.
  16. Lead process documentation efforts of components, assemblies, and integration.
  17. Create or modify tool designs.
  18. Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conformances.
  19. Maintain production work instructions.
  20. Conduct component or integrated systems testing.
  21. Participate in team-building activities.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in an aerospace production environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and techniques
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and manufacturing process simulation tools
  • Familiarity with CAD models and drawings as well as Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies and tools (e.g., Six Sigma)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Expected Hours of Work:

Salaried crew members are generally expected to work a baseline of 40 hours per week, with a priority on achieving results rather than tracking time.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer has limited indirect supervisory responsibility for the production team regarding program objectives.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires sitting, walking, or standing for several hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

This job operates in an indoor office environment and routinely interacts with other crew members and customers.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional overnight travel is expected for this position.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, production engineering, or an equivalent technical role
  • 2 years of experience in the aerospace industry

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Solid Works, AutoCAD, or Solid Edge Experience preferred

Work Authorization:

Eligibility to work in the United States is required, as is compliance with U.S. export control regulations.
