Cowen Construction, a fourth-generation Oklahoma Construction Company established in 1896, is recruiting for a Division General Manager for the Oklahoma City market.
The General Manager’s primary objective is to lead our Oklahoma City team to success by further establishing and growing Cowen’s identity as a premier, relationship driven company of the highest character. The General Manager will promote our company culture, vision, mission and values by hiring and developing managers, of good character, that are driven to pursue both personal and company wide success. Identifying high quality revenue streams and securing sustaining projects and relationships, in diverse market sectors that have ongoing building programs, is key.
Role Description
Initiate meetings with prospective clients, develop and execute strategies to secure relationships and increase company client list and revenues year over year.
Recognize, recruit, and hire top tier employees and develop the Cowen Team in Oklahoma City to fit the needs of the market, while maintaining Cowen’s character and personality. If necessary discharge employees that do not adhere to the Cowen standard.
Mentor, train and manage employees to be highly effective managers that operate efficiently by implementing policies and procedures and ensuring they are followed. Ultimately responsible for a safe, profitable division.
Manage and forecast budgets and profitability for the OKC division.
Assist in the development and enhancement of the company’s relationship with subcontractors, in our bid market, to produce strategic partnerships. Ensure our managers act with fairness, good communication and timely follow up. Relay relationship information to the project teams.
Ensure the OKC office functions independently, adapting plans and priorities as needed. Make decisions, and guide managers consistently while consulting with senior management as needed.
Attend and participate in appropriate business and social organizations to grow our name brand exposure and increase overall branding knowledge of our company and its culture in the community.
Ensures managers are properly utilizing project proformas to assist in analyzing project feasibility, maximizing potential profit and recognizing/minimizing potential risks by taking quick action.
Oversee estimating to ensure estimates are timely, accurate and competitive.
In charge of the organization and presentation of OKC market RFPs and RFQs and in-person interviews.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree
Solid relationships in the OKC AEC market, Minimum Experience 6-10 years
Great communication skills
Results-driven, with the ability to effectively manage and follow up on multiple priorities
Computer skills, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work with construction management software
