Department Summary

The Business Information Technology (BIT) team is dedicated to designing, developing, configuring, enhancing, optimizing, and maintaining innovative products and platforms that enable UCLA’s core business functions, including Web Technologies, Budget & Financial Management, Human Resources Information, Customer Relationship Management, and Collaboration, Productivity, & Workplace Products. In partnership with administrative stakeholders, BIT ensures that its solutions deliver exceptional functionality, quality, business value, user experience, and digital accessibility, meeting the diverse needs and expectations of the campus community. The BIT team drives ITS' cloud-first strategy by reducing technical debt, leveraging cutting-edge techniques, partnering with other departments and teams to accelerate releases through advanced automation and application lifecycle management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to ensure scalable, flexible solutions that meet UCLA's evolving demands. The Human Resources Information Technology Products team is responsible for the design, configuration, monitoring, testing delivering, optimization, and refinement of human resources information technology products and application technologies. These efforts enhance HR functions throughout the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, performance management, compensation/classification, payroll, benefits, and other HR functions. This team also focuses on optimizing user experience, addressing digital accessibility needs. Additionally, they collaborate with cross-functional delivery teams to ensure that products meet business and user requirements and work with business stakeholders to iterate on and improve the products over time.
Position Summary

The Human Resources Information Technology Products team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, optimizes, and refines human resources products and application technologies, including but not limited to mobile and web applications, collaboration tools, CRM products, budget/financial management products, HR applications, and other services. This department also works to optimize user experience, address digital accessibility needs, and establish the highest standards of quality assurance and release management for UCLA's administrative applications and technologies.

The Business Systems Analyst, Human Resource Information Technology Products will help define, test, and deliver Human Resource Information products to maximize business value. The Business Analyst, Human Resource Information Products will conduct customer research and collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to gather business requirements and help translate them into functional and technical requirements. Through the use of various analytical tools and methodologies, they will identify trends and opportunities that can drive innovation and efficiency in UCLA's technological offerings. In addition, they will contribute to the strategic planning process by providing insights and data-driven recommendations to help shape the university's IT roadmap. This role will also support the product team's delivery and sustainment of an excellent end-to-end customer experience. The Business Systems Analyst, Human Resource Information Technology Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage Human Resource Information Technology products and applications. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.


Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • 3 years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, BSA (Business Systems Analyst), HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), or related field. (Required)
  • Experience conducting or facilitating requirement gathering interviews or sessions. (Required)
  • Experience utilizing analytics tools to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making. (Required)
  • Experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • 5 years Experience working in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, BSA (Business Systems Analyst), HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), or related field. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of and experience designing human resources systems functions and processes including applicant tracking, payroll, training, benefits administration, succession planning, performance management, employee self-service, time & attendance, workforce reporting & analytics, etc. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key issues critical to the organization's need and the success of a desired product, service and enhancement. (Required)
  • Proven record of delivering end-to-end, user-centered products by considering stakeholder requirements, user research, market analysis, data, customer feedback, and technical constraints or opportunities. (Required)
  • Understanding of Lean and Agile methodologies. (Required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (Required)
  • Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices. (Required)
  • Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity. (Required)
  • Thinks creatively and proposes innovative ideas, including the incorporation of new technologies or processes. Is able to work with agility in a fast-paced environment. (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree Business administration, organization development, communication, or public administration, or another related field, or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
  • Human Resources Information Program (HRIP) certification or similar. (Preferred)
