Job Summary

This position can sit out of our Oklahoma City, OK Office OR our El Dorado, AR site . The Mechanical Integrity Manager reports to the VP of Asset Care Excellence and will be responsible for the overall Company Mechanical Integrity (MI) and Fixed Equipment Inspection programs. The position will support the 3 operating sites as well as overall corporate needs. The Mechanical Integrity Program Manager is responsible for developing and leading the mechanical integrity and process safety programs within the company to ensure adherence to PSM requirements and corporate process safety policies, work processes and standards with emphasis on the mechanical integrity element of PSM. This position will serve as a subject matter expert on Fixed Equipment Integrity and a champion to drive strong mechanical integrity performance and process safety cultures at the plant locations. The position provides a lead role in overseeing compliance and managing process safety risk around fixed equipment at the site.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and implement a renewed companywide MI Program.
  • Conduct rollout and training on MI program to site Inspection and Reliability, Operations and Engineering groups. Manages the equipment inspection and mechanical integrity program for site’s fixed equipment
  • Work with site Inspection leaders to improve fixed equipment reliability at all sites with appropriate risk based and known industry damage mechanism inspection strategies
  • Develop basic engineering analysis to assist the site Inspectors or MI Leads/Engineers with risk-based facility inspections, assist in the scheduling and oversight of the inspections, and the subsequent review of results.
  • Lead the company’s mechanical integrity efforts including managing vessel, piping, and relief device inspections and repairs, as well as managing the corrosion under insulation (CUI) program and other know damage mechanism monitoring programs.
  • Ownership of company risk-based equipment inspection program.
  • Understand the various damage mechanisms at play as they relate to process conditions and equipment types.
  • Analyze equipment design vs. operation and recommend Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs)
  • Create (API 571) Damage Mechanism Review and Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs)
  • Create Inspection Task Plans (ITPs) in regard to API (510, 570, 653, & 580)
  • Review and approve inspection scope/plans for site turnarounds.
  • Support Turnaround Inspections scope development and the execution if such at the sites.
  • Respond to significant mechanical failure events at the sites.
  • Perform internal audits of sites’ Mechanical Integrity programs and Inspection routines
  • Champion and guide the use of PCMS for the sites’ inspection data.
  • Understand industry standards, applicable regulatory codes and requirements, and company standards.
  • Analyze, evaluate and audit inspection information and compare with archived reports to ensure the adequacy and completeness of data
  • Provide/Calculate Risk Assessments and “End of Life” remaining service estimates.
  • Input on design improvements for equipment/systems to improve overall reliability, availability, and predictability of production, improve process safety, and environmental performance including complex designs.
  • Assist sites with Material/equipment specifications and selection.
  • Mentor and develop site Inspectors; develop goals for the site inspection groups; and LSB level maintaining procedures/guidelines and quality assurance documentation systems
  • Support LSB sites’ Mechanical Integrity programs by assisting inspectors in planning and executing mechanical integrity assurance programs.
  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for fixed equipment mechanical integrity assurance.
  • Identify and make recommendations to reduce/eliminate repeated fixed equipment failures
  • Attend training courses and conferences to stay up to date on asset integrity evaluation methods, welding trends and technologies.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering or verifiable experience and expertise in MI processes
  • 10 years relevant experience in PSM covered petrochemical mechanical or fixed equipment reliability or Inspection roles is preferred
  • 5 years of Mechanical Integrity program management experience in a petrochemical facility
  • Preference given to an engineer who has experience in a PSM regulated process.
  • Knowledge of MI related regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA standards, etc. and all other RAGAGEP
  • Ability to keep numerous activities going at once, in a fast-paced, ever-changing and improving environment, where your ideas are valued

  • Published papers about fixed equipment damage mechanism or failure analysis on petrochemical process equipment.
  • AWS CWI certification
  • ability to develop others, especially in an ever-changing, continuously improving environment

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Preference given to an engineer who is working on or has obtained their Professional Engineers License.
  • API Certifications in two or more of the following: 510, 570, 580, 579, 650, 653
