Highlights of the Sr. VP Finance Role:
This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of this company, aligning financial strategies with our vision of long-term strength and family values. The Company is looking for a hands-on, operationally focused, financial management leader who is comfortable serving as a key member of the Executive Management team and an effective partner with the President. This person will have an authentic and enthusiastic personality, along with strong oral and written presentation and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee financial operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy in reporting.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive business growth and enhance profitability.
  • Manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting.
  • Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and the company's long-term strategy.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the president and other executive management and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Assist in establishing annual objectives and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, insurance advisors, legal counsel).
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and operational cost management in alignment with company's strategic plan.
  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team.
  • Complete analysis of financial results, and develop recommendations (strategic and tactical) from these results.
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (e.g. opening or closing new stores, capital budgets and new opportunities).
  • Develop and maintain capital budget working directly with operations management team.
  • Oversee cash flow planning, cash, investment, and asset management for the business and the trusts that own the business.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
  • Participate in corporate policy development.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns and work with our bank throughout the process.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions including taxation.
  • Oversees the Profit Sharing/401(k) Plan as well as the financial aspect of the company's group insurance benefits.
  • Identify business risks and make appropriate recommendations and decisions.
  • Serve to effectively lead, mentor, train, and guide team members to accomplish functional responsibilities and to ensure work is performed in an efficient and timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Background in retail, banking, restaurants, or service-related industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with retail operations is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of credit, legal, HR, and IT functions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial role leading financial operations, preferably with a retail company with at least $100 million in sales and multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of current business practices and future trends. A bachelor's degree within Accounting/Finance or related field and a CPA and/or MBA is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of integrity and dependability with a keen sense of urgency and result-orientation. In addition, they will be approachable and helpful. They will be able to articulate financial matters successfully to the non-financially savvy. They will thrive in an environment of continuous learning and a desire to constantly seek improvement and grow professionally.
Location and Travel: This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Matteson, IL. While primarily located there, some travel may be required to support our store locations and business operations. In addition, some work may also be done remotely.
