Cosmetic Chemist

Our client, a globally well-established company in the manufacturing of fragrances is looking for a full-time Cosmetic Chemist. The candidate will be specializing in optimizing cosmetic formulas for quality, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the EU, USA, and LATAM.

Summary:

Support the R&D development laboratories optimizing existing and in development formulas in order to improve their quality, cost and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

Raw materials management:

• Be part of R&D representatives at the “committee of efficiency”
• Support the process of new raw materials approval.

Formulation:

• Test RM alternatives in existing or in development formulas in order to reduce the RM risk factor.
• Help development labs when needed with plan of experiments
• Complete projects according to timetable, following the EU, USA, LATAM regulations compliance during the development.
• Summarize trial data and provide recommendations
• Participate actively in the scale up process from the lab to the pilot proposing innovative solutions.
• Evaluate pilot/production batch and review records for accuracy
• Travel to Peru and Colombia for pilot test, assistance to quality control and production.

Others:

• Ability to demonstrate the proficiency in the use of the Research & Development software.
• Create and validate information or changes of information in Software
• Meet with suppliers of raw materials.
• Attend meetings and seminars as requested.
• Other duties and responsibilities as they may arise.

Education Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (B.A.) from four-year college or university
• Eight or more years' related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Computer Software, Applications/ Systems: Data base software, SAP and LASCOM
• Other Qualifications: must be able to operate a mixer, grinder, press machine, hot plate, centrifuge, pH meter and viscometer, and any other basic laboratory equipment.
