Sr. Manager, Sr. Counsel, Litigation (Hybrid)

Capital One Legal is seeking a motivated litigation attorney to join the Enterprise Litigation Team. The Enterprise Litigation Team handles non-employment litigation that spans the entire enterprise, including intellectual property, tech/cyber/privacy, commercial litigation, government inquiries, and other similar matters. The team also provides advice on privileged internal investigations. The successful candidate will report to the head of Enterprise Litigation and manage a portfolio that would include several of these types of matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage litigation matters, pre-litigation demands, provide legal advice, and handle internal investigations
  • Hire and oversee outside litigation counsel
  • Work as a team with other attorneys and legal professionals
  • Potential to perform a wide variety of attorney tasks
  • Understand customer needs and provide appropriate solutions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Ensure project deliverables and timelines are met

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
  • At least 4 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, in-house legal department and/or government agency. Previous experience in the financial services industry is a plus but not required. Applicants without financial services experience who otherwise meet the criteria are encouraged to apply
  • Federal court or state appellate court clerkship
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Ability and desire to learn new areas of law
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team player
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

This role is hybrid meaning associates typically spend about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Monday and Fridays are enterprise-wide virtual work days. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
