Overview:

Job Description: Structural Steel Estimator

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects and should possess a strong understanding of modeling and drafting. This role is critical in ensuring that our bids are competitive and reflect the project scope accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel projects based on project drawings and specifications.
- Analyze project requirements, including material, labor, and overhead costs, to develop accurate and comprehensive bids.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to clarify project details and address any discrepancies.
- Utilize modeling and drafting software to create and review project layouts, ensuring all estimates align with design specifications.
- Maintain and update pricing databases to reflect current market trends and material costs.
- Participate in bid meetings and presentations, effectively communicating estimates and rationale to stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate project costs throughout the lifecycle to identify potential savings and improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in estimating within the structural steel industry.
- Proficiency in Tekla is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Modeling software such as Tekla Structures, SDS2, or AutoCAD is also preferred
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.
