Overview:

The Director - Planning, Heavy Checks, and Technology leads the maintenance planning and heavy check teams, including maintenance planning strategy, day-to-day execution of all maintenance planning activities, and overall responsibility for out-sourced aircraft heavy maintenance repair activities. In addition, this position leads activities associated with Technical Publications and implementation and evolution of business process technology initiatives in Tech Ops.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a member of the technical operations leadership team to ensure that employees, safety, and operation are aligned to support our mainline customer Delta to meet the flying requirements allocated.
  2. Plan and analyze heavy maintenance repair requirements.
  3. Coordinate engine maintenance repair requirements with Delta Connection.
  4. Monitor heavy maintenance repair work scope and vendor quotes to identify opportunities for reducing costs.
  5. Develop effective strategies for heavy maintenance repairs to obtain optimal fleet reliability while maintaining a focus on costs.
  6. Define a technology roadmap and implement technology solutions to enhance business process efficiency and effectiveness, improve business intelligence, and reduce costs.
  7. Ensure Technical Publications are current, accurate, and available.
  8. Participate in divisional financial performance reviews and budget planning sessions.
  9. Analyze technical and cost data to determine opportunities to reduce costs, increase throughput, optimize maintenance practices, and maintenance program opportunities.
  10. Participate in vendor contract negotiations related to heavy maintenance.
  11. Ensure all maintenance items required by the continuous airworthiness maintenance program (CAMP) are accomplished at their assigned intervals.
  12. Schedule and execution of aircraft storage tasks and compliance.
  13. Schedule airworthiness directive (AD) mandated action within the prescribed compliance time(s) and monitoring and adjusting the accomplishment schedule to ensure all affected units do not exceed AD time limitations.
  14. Serve as a voting member of the Maintenance Review Board (MRB).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Director - Planning, Heavy Checks, and Technology has four direct report managers and an overall team of approximately 53 employees.

Qualifications:

  1. 7 years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning, with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.
  2. 6-10 years of experience managing or supervising a team of multiple direct reports.
  3. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  4. Skilled at providing leadership and direction to staff to accomplish set goals.
  5. Experience implementing business process related technologies.
  6. Working knowledge of air carrier regulatory requirements (FAA, DOT, DoD, etc.).
  7. Working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques is preferred (TOC or LEAN).
  8. Must be experienced in effectively working with and managing a diverse and inclusive workgroup.
  9. No licensures or certification required; A&P license preferred.
  10. Ability to understand and apply maintenance manuals and company policies and procedures.
  11. Broad and in-depth aircraft maintenance planning knowledge, as well as strong general business and overall industry knowledge.
  12. Highly organized and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  13. Ability to work with all levels within the organization is required.
  14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Demonstrate flexibility and versatility in a changing work environment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  1. Repetitive motion such as: typing and phone work.
  2. Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 50 lbs.
  3. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  4. Can involve long periods of sitting.
  5. May be required to wear facial masks, take safety measures, or work remotely as necessary and as dictated by safety standards to help protect self and others in the workplace.
  6. Company business travel may be required up to 10%.

FLSA Status: Salary

Minimum Position Pay Range: USD $136,049.70/Yr.

Maximum Position Pay Range: USD $176,708.25/Yr.
