**Shift:** Night Shift, 5x8-Hour (23:00 - 07:30), Sunday-Thursday with holiday rotation
**Guaranteed Hours:** Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
**Experience:** 3-5 years full-time experience required; Embedding and Microtomy skills
**License:** Valid license required
**Certifications:** BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
**Must-Have:** Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or related scientific discipline preferred; First-timers accepted; Radius rule: Yes, 60 miles
**Job Description:**
- Perform routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry.
- Conduct quality control on completed slides and identify any issues that may affect diagnosis and results.
- Document maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab.
- Comply with established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Record observations from tests accurately.
- Complete 16 hours of orientation.

- This position is based at a teaching hospital and is part of a magnet and Level 1 Trauma facility with 865 staffed beds.
- Charting is conducted using Epic.
- There is a focus on emergency response during hurricane season, which runs from June through November, with peak activity in August and September.
- Flu vaccine is required, with medical or religious exemptions only.
