About the Role
The Import Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the compliance of all imported goods. This includes ensuring that all imports are classified correctly, that duties and tariffs are accurately calculated, and that all necessary documentation is completed and filed in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations. The Analyst will work closely with internal teams, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure smooth and compliant import operations.

About the Role
The Import Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the compliance of all imported goods. This includes ensuring that all imports are classified correctly, that duties and tariffs are accurately calculated, and that all necessary documentation is completed and filed in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations. The Analyst will work closely with internal teams, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure smooth and compliant import operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Documentation preparation
- Prepare, review, and manage import documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, and any additional paperwork required for customs clearance.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of submission of import documentation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other regulatory authorities.
- Maintain proper filing of all import-related documents in compliance with record retention policies (e.g., 5-year retention for customs records).
- Assist in the reconciliation of import records and invoices to ensure correct payment of duties, taxes, and fees.
- When needed, classify imported products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure compliance with country of origin requirements, duty rates, and free trade agreements (FTAs).
- Work with internal stakeholders and customs brokers to validate product classifications, ensuring the correct application of HTS codes and duty rates.
- Assist in conducting periodic internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance with customs regulations
- Assist in process of Duty Drawback claims

- Experience with submission of import documentation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of reconciliation of import records and invoices to ensure correct payment of duties, taxes, and fees
- Experience ensuring compliance with country of origin requirements, duty rates, and free trade agreements (FTAs).
- Being able to work with internal stakeholders and customs brokers to validate product classifications, ensuring the correct application of HTS codes and duty rates.
- Proficient in audits of ongoing compliance with customs regulations
