DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING
The Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM) role is to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans to generate and optimize overall Hotel revenues. The DOSM will activate marketing, sales, promotion, advertising and public relations strategies that will positively impact the hotel resulting in a profitable return on investment. This individual will lead, motivate, and support the sales, convention services, catering, and revenue management teams to maximize revenues and margins. The DOSM will be responsible for effectively managing all sales and marketing expenses while exceeding overall budgeted revenues and RevPAR goals while creating an inspiring hospitality experience for the hotel guests.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Hire and establish an experienced and successful sales team.
- Implement and maintain brand standards.
- Develop, maintain and implement strategies to generate revenues for the hotel.
- Motivate the sales staff through leadership, development and support.
- Develop, maintain and implement creative and successful packages to fill need dates.
- Assist in the active solicitation of key accounts to generate direct sales.
- Assist in the achievement of overall Banquet Food and Beverage revenue.
- Design and leverage all advertising and public relations opportunities.
- Develop, maintain and implement the budgeting/forecasting process.
- Control all marketing expenses to insure optimum operating profit.
- Confirm all administrative procedures are in place and functioning effectively.
- Ensure a challenging and exciting environment to encourage full career development and personal growth.
- Through the Convention Services Department, maintain product and assure the protection and cleanliness of the owner's physical assets.
- Effectively communicate expectations while creating a challenging but fun team environment.
- Understand and contribute in overall revenue management initiatives and strategies to ensure we are maximizing every revenue opportunity.
- Grow relationships, both internally and externally that enable the development and advancement of sales initiatives.
- Works with the General Manager and Revenue Manager to discuss forecast, budget, and revenue goals, and to develop revenue-generation strategies.
Qualifications:
- Hospitality Management Degree and/or 5 years' experience in Hotel Sales and Marketing
- Management of the customer decision and relationship process
- Ability to communicate issues and concerns at all levels of the organization
- Ability to direct/lead activities through internal and external resources
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Business planning skills and budget management skills
- Ability to scan and assess the competitive arena as it relates to region and segment to refine / improve customer value proposition
- Creative and strategic skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and reprioritize when necessary
- Catering and Conference Services experience a plus
The Hotel functions seven days a week and 24-hours a day. All employees, both management and hourly, must realize, at times, it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift so support business demands.
