Job Requirements / Description

CTC is a cutting-edge proprietary trading firm with a long-term vision and a clear focus on helping the world price and manage risk. Our fun and trusting culture inspires us to solve the industry’s most challenging problems and take calculated risks in a collaborative environment.

We strive to be the most innovative firm in the industry today, tomorrow, and long into the future while upholding ethical excellence. We believe that CTC makes a positive impact on the markets, the lives of our employees, and all the communities to which we belong. Started in 1995 by a team of forward-thinking Traders, we are proud to call ourselves an industry leader that keeps making markets and each other better.

CTC is looking for a seasoned engineer to join our Data Onboarding team, where you'll get the opportunity to work on some of our most valuable and widely adopted data pipelines. These include data sets that are used on a daily or intraday basis by trading desks across the firm. Quality and reliability of these pipelines is of utmost importance, as is their long-term maintainability and flexibility.

As we look to further centralize our core datasets which we source from 3rd party providers, our Data Onboarding team is critical to ensuring these are onboarded in a timely fashion, socializing them across the org to broaden adoption, and engineering them in such a way as to minimize disruption due to the unforeseen.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with various trading desks to understand stakeholder requirements, competing priorities, and deliver in a timely fashion.
  • Own our existing datasets, identify opportunities for improvement, consolidating and refactoring where practical to minimize maintenance footprint while simultaneously ensuring top-quality data to stakeholders.
  • Set a high bar for quality software and operational excellence, simultaneously providing mentorship across data engineering to reach that bar.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in backend software engineering and/or data engineering.
  • Experience optimizing queries and tuning database performance.
  • Experience fully deprecating or migrating large-scale legacy systems and/or pipelines.
  • Experience supporting large-scale legacy systems and/or pipelines.
  • Experience working with various data services offered by Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficient with SnowFlake and SQL Server.
  • Proficient in Python.
  • Comfortable working with at least one other modern programming language.
  • Extensive experience with DataDog.
  • Well-versed in foundational software engineering concepts, including knowledge and application of core principles and common patterns.
  • Proven mentorship experience, ideally via participation in formal internships, apprenticeships, or explicit mentoring programs.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple, competing priorities and changing requirements.

Nice to Have:

  • Proven experience influencing team trajectory, from sprint plannings to strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Experience working with Kafka or other streaming technologies.
  • Experience with various AWS services.
  • Full stack development background.

We strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families so we offer outstanding benefits to support you both professionally and personally. These benefits include generous medical coverage, paid parental leave, free breakfast and lunch (plus healthy snacks, of course), wellness reimbursement, quarterly recharge days, and a variety of other benefits focused on providing the best employee experience.

(Disclaimer: Interns and Contractors are not eligible for benefits at CTC)
