Essential Functions
Process Semi-Monthly Payroll. Accounts Payable. End of Shift/End of Day review and processing. Child Care Billing Private Pay and Washington State DCYF Subsidy. Maintain vendor and record files to ensure items are up to date and filed appropriately. Ordering and maintaining stock of office supplies On occasion assists the front desk with program registration and general office support Focus on specific safety and risk management practices to assure office safety Work with departments to track and report on grants. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Other duties as assigned

Job Description
The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities is seeking a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will work in collaboration with the CFO to maintain, manage, and report financial data of the organization. This position will focus on handling day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the organization’s mission through diligent financial management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a passion for supporting a cause through sound financial stewardship.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Knowledge of accrual accounting, and GAAP.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and strong knowledge of Excel.
- Attention to Detail: Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information in an accessible way.
- Integrity: High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial data.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and tax regulations (e.g., IRS Form 990).
- Experience working with Washington State DCYF Child Care Subsidy Billing.
