**Job Description:**
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Pharmacy to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies from physicians' written prescriptions.
- Participate in Performance Improvement plans within the hospital setting.
- Consult with and advise Administration, Medical Staff, and hospital staff on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
- Support and serve as a consultant to all clinical and Medical Staff.
- Assist the Director in coordinating and implementing Pharmacy activities.
- Interpret medication orders, compound and dispense medication in accordance with legal and professional standards.
- Supervise technical support staff and assist with clinical, quality management, and educational programs.
- Provide support for all departments with respect to the care of all patients aged 18 through the geriatric population.
- Participate in maintaining and disseminating drug information through in-service education.
- Direct activities of, and provide professional and technical guidance to, Pharmacy personnel.
- Use professional judgment to impart therapeutic and drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the capability of entering a minimum of 40 orders per four-hour shift and generate required reports.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and check technician-prepared products before release.
- Prioritize work to prepare STAT, Now, and Waiting orders in order of importance.
- Review patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy, preventing significant drug interactions and avoidable adverse drug reactions (ADRs).
- Monitor patient appropriateness for formulation and clarify controversial orders with physicians.
- Stay updated on new drugs and add additives in the proper sequence.
- Uphold the security of the Pharmacy and controlled substances.
- Inform staff of pending problems and workload status to keep the Director informed.
