Profile:

Do you wonder how analytics and decision science are influencing the way companies engage you? Would you like to lead a team that uses data and technology to integrate the human experience and transform how we interact with clients? JPMorgan Chase needs a curious, passionate leader to drive the transformation of data into insights that identify aha! moments and enable business breakthroughs. The Data & Analytics team is the engine that powers JPMorgan Chase with insights to create competitive advantages for our business and deliver value for our customers. We have unified data and analytics talent across the firm and encompass a variety of disciplines including data science, reporting, quantitative analytics, and data governance.

Within this organization, the Decision Sciences team leverages industry-leading data-driven techniques to convert data into meaningful insights that enable the firm to drive value and an outstanding customer experience. The wealth management industry is rapidly changing and JPMorgan Chase is transforming our U.S. wealth management business to accelerate growth. We are looking for an Executive Director of Decision Science to help lead the execution of our analytic strategy across a newly combined US Wealth Management business unit that includes Chase Wealth Management, JP Morgan Securities, and the You Invest digital platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Decision Sciences for Wealth Management and the Private Bank, this role will help build a team of analysts that are central in understanding investment customers’ financial needs and their interactions with our products, services, and channels. The Executive Director is a critical leadership position and requires an inventive, aspiring, and inspiring leader who can help the team to think bigger and do better, together.

Responsibilities:

  1. Partnering with key executives and decision makers to transform strategic priorities into a prioritized data & analytics roadmap.
  2. Providing expertise as to how big data, machine learning, or business intelligence can be leveraged to optimize sales performance for our Advisors.
  3. Developing a testing strategy to learn what drives a prospect to choose self-directed investing, full-service wealth management, or a hybrid solution.
  4. Integrating valuation and channel insights into an overall perspective on firm marketing effectiveness.
  5. Helping a team member to improve their model by testing new data, identifying false positive/negatives, or editing their storyline to be more impactful.
  6. Leveraging knowledge of our current and future analytic needs to partner with Technology and Data Management to develop a roadmap for new analytic platforms and capabilities.

You are a strong candidate if you:

  1. Have a long and demonstrated history of building world-class teams of high performing data scientists who lead the delivery of analytic and machine learning to improve business function performance.
  2. Speak the languages of “business” and “technology” and can translate across both in order to expand the use of data as well as expand the questions that data is used to answer.
  3. Excel at strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a honed ability to translate strategic priorities into tactical plans.
  4. Possess the business acumen and analytic chops to ensure your team is applying the right approach and critical thinking to execute against projects using an assortment of methods, algorithms, and techniques including predictive modeling, text mining, statistical forecasting and analysis, optimization, and simulation modeling.
  5. Are outcomes-driven with high achievement orientation, a bias towards action, and the ability to lead and motivate others around results that drive impact.
  6. Have a strong presence, excellent presentation skills (both written and verbal), and low ego with the ability to deliver recommendations to multiple stakeholders and influence senior management.
  7. Thrive in fast-paced, start-up environments but can also navigate large, matrixed organizations to break down siloes.
  8. Believe that diversity of skills, experience, and thought make a team better.

Bonus points if you:

  1. Possess a deep understanding of how the wealth management market is evolving, the sources of competitive differentiation in the market, and how those could evolve.
  2. Have a strong grasp of statistical principles, big data disciplines, Agile (scrum) methodologies, and new technologies.
  3. Are a lifelong learner and hold a growth mindset; we welcome individuals who geek out on industry podcasts, stay abreast of cutting-edge techniques, or participate in KDD and Kaggle competitions for “fun” and love to share what they are learning with the rest of the team.
